OCEAN SENSOR GATEWAY aims to provide access to high quality Internet-based resources related to marine sensors, including technological developments, manufacturers, platforms, users, research programs, data acquisition, and related sensor issues. Many fundamental questions in ocean sciences require continuous measurement of marine processes which vary over a range of spatial and temporal scales. To address these questions, th e coming decades will see an increased use of moored, cabled, and autonomous observatories. Reliable, accurate, low-cost sensors to measure physical, chemical, and biological properties and rates in the water column, on the sea floor, and in extreme environments are urgently needed. Our goal in developing this website is to facilitate accurate information exchange on sensor-related technology to ensure that the development and use of sensors progresses efficiently to meet future scientific challenges.
